Why Purified Water Is Better

By April 17, 2019WATER

While drinking purified water emerged as a mainstream trend years ago, the recent proliferation of social media awareness continues to spread this practice across the globe.

Multiple health bloggers and celebrities readily endorse drinking water that’s been purified, over regular tap water. This begs the question — is purified water actually better, and if so, what are the benefits?

Companies purify bottled water by processing it through a treatment plant meant to remove chlorine and distilled solids – such as magnesium – that float in water. Tap water dirities naturally by travelling through city pipes into our homes and offices. When flowing quickly, tap water absorbs sand, dirt and other substances we don’t need – or want – in our bodies. Purifying water removes these contaminants, ensuring the water you drink is clean, healthy and in its purest form.

Drinking purified water assures that the vital minerals you need to function are present in the water you’re drinking. Purified water removes harmful bacteria that otherwise can lead to sickness, stomach pain and nausea. Chlorine disinfects water, making it smell and taste cleaner. In fact, purified water is scientifically labelled as such due to its lack of impurities. Water that contains high levels of contaminants is not considered “purified”.

Many commonly mistake filtered water for purified water. However, this is not the case. Purified water goes through a process of double filteration, usually seen as reverse-osmosis, distillation or deionization. These additional purification processes create a water that has regained its truest form, untouched by outside factors.

Drinking purified water helps maintain a protective barrier around your skin, working to defend your body’s largest organ from impurities that wish to invade. Drinking water assists in positive mental and physical health, as well as benefiting your digestion and colon tracks.

Even though purified water does remove harmful contaminants, it should not make up your entire daily water consumption.
